Department of Building Inspection

The Town of Abingdon Building Inspections Department is dedicated to the protection of the health, safety and welfare of all persons who live, work or visit the Town of Abingdon.  The Town of Abingdon Building department is comprised of a Code Official, Building Inspector and Permit Technician.

The Building Inspections Department is responsible for the application of model construction codes as adopted by the Commonwealth. Because of this, the citizens of Abingdon enjoy a high level of assurance that the buildings and structures they utilize everyday are as safe as current standards allow.  Safer and stronger buildings benefit everyone by reducing injuries and damages during emergency situations and disasters as well as enhancing and preserving the value of our properties.
